R Draft Program Year 2009 Local Operations Plan Modification new!  
The Northwest Workforce Council will meet at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in the Boardroom at WorkSource Skagit, 2005 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, WA to hear comments, review, and approve submission of the draft Program Year 2009 Local Operations Plan Modification.  All Council members, workforce system stakeholders, and interested parties are invited to attend.

The public review period ends June 30, 2009.  Members of the public and interested parties are invited to review the plan and to forward comments and suggestions on issues or content to kvonnegut@nwpic.bellingham.wa.us.  All comments will be considered by the Council Executive Committee prior to final publication of the Plan.  The Council will submit the Program Year 2009 Local Operations Plan Modification on June 30, 2009. NWC is an EO/AA/ADA institution.

The Northwest Workforce Council is recruiting for an experienced accounting professional to manage its fiscal department.  Responsible for all accounting, payroll and human resources functions and audit and monitoring preparation and interface.  Requirements:  BA, 3+years of accounting and grant management experience, excellent communication and organizational skills and strong computer capabilities.  MIP & ABRA a plus.  EEO employer/program.

Washington Intracoastal Marine and Manufacturing Industries Alliance Receives $200K Implementation Grant: 

A coalition of three Workforce Development Councils and three Area Development Organizations spanning the 12 county Intracoastal Region has won a competitive High Skills, High Wage Strategic Fund grant from the state’s Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.  Only three such grants were awarded in the state.  Over the course of 18 months the Alliance of private industry and public system leadership will implement strategies to:
1.  
Increase the size and quality of the talent pool to support and expand Intracoastal industries that create high skill, high wage jobs and provide the region a competitive advantage in national and international markets.
2. 
Enhance the capacity of the education, workforce and economic development systems to meet the needs of the Intracoastal industries and its workers.
3. 
Catalyze innovation and foster an entrepreneurial climate for business creation and expansion.
